I'm not one to usually share big mainstream gaming news, but this one seems kinda important, seeing as it closely relates to my own game completion journey on the Nintendo Switch. I won't go into details, we had so many leaks over the past few months, and now you can check the official video reveal from Nintendo here:

What I want to discuss is what coming next for me regarding the Switch 2. When the Switch was first released in 2017, I was already kinda old, and I was getting tired of starting back gaming gen after gaming gen. As mainly an handheld player, and an aging one at that with a family, the Switch was like the ultimate handheld! I could spend 90% of my time without the TV, and yet still have some couch co-op experience here and there on the big screen. So with all that in mind, I made the promise to myself that the Switch would be the last console/handheld I would ever buy, and once the generation was done, it will be over for me, and I will just continue clearing my Switch backlog. And it worked like a charm. Never bought anything else since the Switch release, be it PS5, Steam Deck, or any other gaming device, I sticked to my gun and fully focused only on the Switch as my last gaming device.
Only exception to this would be if the next Nintendo console was really 100% backward compatible. And even then, I would have to see how everything is turning out. And with the Switch 2 reveal, we can say so far so good. The fact that I will be able to just move some of my collection of the first Switch to the Switch 2, and maybe have some improved load times and fps (for those games that have a 30/60 fps cap with dip here and there, like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom) is really perfect for me.
The one thing I really want to know now is definitely just a "me" problem, but may impact my decision. Having multiple Switch myself, having to deal with the Primary and Secondary Switch system can become a problem. For those who don't know, all the games you buy digitally on your Primary Switch are playable by everyone without any internet verification. BUT, if you're trying to play them on a Secondary Switch, then no one but you can play your digital games. And even then, you need an internet verification EVERY TIME you want to boot them up. So without internet, you can't play your digital games library on your Secondary Switch (including physical games that you bought DLC for).
So far, it's not really an issue, I still have my Primary Switch available at all time. But when the Switch 2 will come around, I have so many games (like over 1000. You can check my collection with the Google Sheet link on the Homepage), so I don't plan to transfer EVERYTHING, just some selected games that will work better on Switch 2. I wanted to continue using my Switch 1 to play some old games, no matter where I am, with or without internet. So now I'm wondering, the day I'll buy a Switch 2, will this one become a Primary Switch and my Switch 1 that was Primary before will now become a Secondary one? Preventing me from playing a lot of my games on my Switch 1 without internet? Or will they both be Primary Switch, since they are from 2 different generations?
I know it's confusing and like I said, it's totally a "me" problem, and for now, all we can do is wait for April to have more news on the subject. I'll just continue completing Switch games in my corner in the meantime. And even if I don't upgrade to the Switch 2, I have already a backlog that can last me a lifetime on my current Switch, so I won't stop gaming for a long while...
